Knit 2 Color Longtail Cast On

always have the right amount of yarn using this variation of long-tail cast-on. Works beautifully for preparing yarns for striping when you are carrying up along the edge, such as when you might be working with multiple skeins of hand dyed yarn, which can have a lot of color variation even from the same dye lot. Striping them helps to evenly distribute the color variation and break up the inherent puddling that comes with commercial multi-colored yarns.

How to cast on with a crochet hook

I had to use 3 strands of yarn and I did not feel like calculating how much yarn I need for a long tail cast on. So I tried to cast on with s hook. And it's very easy. The edge looks smooth, perfectly shaped. It's another way to cast on when using multiple strands of yarn.

Crochet Cast On

This cast on technique, shown by Laura Nelkin, can be used as a provisional cast on if done with scrap yarn, and if used with your working yarn is a great cast on that matches a traditional bind off the best. This is a semi-elastic cast on that is a bit more rigid than a long tail cast on.
